City Management Fellowship $15.497 - $18.596/hour The City Manager s office for the City of Columbia is accepting applications as part of a two-year professional fellowship program to learn about municipal administration and management.
This position will serve as a temporary member of the City s executive management team by conducting research, assisting with special projects, and completing City Council requests.
Education requirements include completion of all coursework for a Master s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or a closely related field prior to the start date of the fellowship with a GPA of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Applicants who have completed all coursework for their degree but have not completed a thesis, internship, or comprehensive exam in order for degree conferral are eligible.
Essential functions include assisting the City Manager s office and the City Council by conducting research and statistical analysis to provide municipal reports, policy recommendations, and gauging public interest in various municipal program.
The ideal applicant should have a strong analytical ability to successfully conduct research and prepare reports, the flexibility to quickly organize and coordinate a broad range of special projects and requests, and should possess excellent interpersonal and customer skills to manage the complaints of challenging citizens.
